The Embassy of Lebanon to the UK, in collaboration with the Amersi Foundation, host a concert in aid of the Beirut Emergency Appeal

On the 24th of August 2020 the Amersi Foundation collaborated with the Embassy of Lebanon, in London, to host a music concert to raise funds for the Beirut Emergency Appeal.

On August 4th, 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate exploded in the port of Beirut, Lebanon. At least 181 people died, over 6,000 people wounded, and 300,000 are now homeless. The eastern part of Beirut’s port is totally destroyed, and buildings across the city including hospitals have been heavily damaged. The British Red Cross has established the Beirut Emergency Appeal, with all proceeds sent to The Lebanese Red Cross, responding to the crisis on the ground.

The evening’s performance, titled “For the love of Beirut” featured performances from three Lebanese artists. Nadim Naaman read a poem by Khalil Gibran, “You have your Lebanon, I have my Lebanon”. Followed by musical performances by Shiraz, The Enigma Duo, and Broken Wings, a collaboration of 40 Lebanese artists between London and Beirut.
