The Amersi Foundation awarded the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award at the 2018 Dubai Knowledge Summit

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge (MBRMK) Award was established with the aim to encourage those working in knowledge-related fields to innovate and create new ways to spread knowledge around the world.

The award is presented every year during the Knowledge Summit Ceremony to honour a person or institution from around the world, who has made lasting knowledge contributions to the world that have effectively enhanced the production and dissemination of knowledge across sectors.

The Amersi Foundation was selected as a recipient of the prestigious Knowledge Award in December 2018, to honour the Foundation’s efforts to promote and extend opportunities in education around the world. The award itself was presented to Mr Amersi by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, United Arab Emirates at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Previous winners have included Melinda Gates and Tim Berners Lee.

The partnership between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation was launched in 2007, with the establishment of the Arab Knowledge Project (AKP). In September 2019, UNDP signed a new 10-year agreement (2021-2030) with MBRF to continue joint work within the frame of the Knowledge Project from the UN Headquarters in New York to promote thought leadership and evidence-based policymaking for sustainable development in the Arab States region and around the world.
