Addressing modern-day slavery

Several United Nations initiatives focus heavily on the eradication of poverty and the necessity to ‘secure the prohibition and elimination of the worst forms of child labour’.

At a summit in Malta entitled ‘Sharing models and best practices to end modern slavery and restore dignity to its victims’, organised by the Amersi Foundation, modern-day slavery – one of the greatest human rights contraventions of today’s world – was the key topic.

The need for a wide approach to addressing the issue was recognised, stretching right across authorities, the private sector, supply chains and industries.
